Kenza Merouchi

Kenza Merouchi was born in Paris in 1997 and currently works in Marseille.

The artist describes her work as the expression of a threshold, that between the flat surface of a sheet of paper, the moving surface of film and the volume of her installations, but also a temporal threshold, working from a variety of iconographic documents, such as archive videos, family slides or cinema images. Collage and montage have led him to revisit many pictorial genres, from animal drawings to comic strips.

Since obtaining her DNSEP in 2020 at the École Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en- Provence (ESAAix), Kenza Merouchi’s drawing work and films have been exhibited in and around Marseille at various fairs, festivals and exhibitions dedicated to emerging creation (Hybrid Art, La Relève) and during the drawing season (Centre d’art Polaris, Château de Servières). She has assisted various artists whose work is nationally and internationally recognized, in their teaching role (Catherine Melin, Abraham Poincheval), and in their artistic practice (Jérémie Setton).

From May 2 to 19, 2024, Kenza Merouchi presented her Solo Show Adrénaline at Galerie Ars Longa, in honor of the 16th edition of the Festival Printemps de l’Art Contemporain, organized by the Provence Art Contemporain network. In it, she explores the sensation of taking off as a metaphor for the artistic experience. Her intention is to evoke the impetus and pleasure that the experience of art, and drawing in particular, can provoke. For her, “to look at a work of art is to experience, by rebound, this sensation”. She exhibited in June 2025 at the Ateliers Jeanne Barret in Marseille for the closing of the Curriculum Chromé program. Following a post-graduate diploma specializing in art school pedagogy, she is currently working with Cédric Caprio on a film, Les Ariétides, due for release in october 2025.
