Galerie Ars Longa

Galerie Ars Longa is delighted to welcome Abstractions, an exhibition bringing together the most promising abstract artists on the contemporary art scene: Claire Gitton (France), Hugo Schüwer Boss (France) and Mayura Torii (Japan). At a time when figurative art is making a comeback, we wanted to demonstrate to the real novelties in these artists’ research, between working with materials, form and color, playing with our gaze, our emotions and our memories. Airbrush, acrylic and oil are here the vectors of a painting that is both introspective and absolute.

Rayonism, concrete art, abstract expressionism, lyrical abstraction – this art form has gone by many names, but its ultimate aim is always to liberate painting from the imitation of the real world, in an emphasis on both inner and universal experience. Indeed, according to Kandinsky, abstract language aims to open up a spiritual dimension, notably through the fundamental role played by color. Above all, it remains a place of contemplation and escape. Each of the three artists chosen for this exhibition evokes the current paths taken by abstraction, between geometry and sensations.
