Magalie Darsouze, is an artist with a master’s degree in Fine Arts from the University of Bordeaux who frequently exhibits between France and Germany.
Her artwork questions past time. It is established in the sharing and collective transmission of a moment frozen in time. She explores the intrigues of a repertoire of personal or borrowed photo albums. It uses archival images chosen for their quality of belonging and their common memory. To captures these images, she uses the lead mine to instill a mysterious atmosphere. Magalie Darsouze seeks to detect what is disappearing, she sows clues about her treatment of overexposure, erasure and blur that make the specificity of her art.
In 2012, the Regional Direction of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) de Basse-Normandie hosted its first solo exhibition entitled “Panorama, Réseau d’espaces art actuel” at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Lô. In 2022, she is selected as a Creative and Mediation Residency at the Espace d’art contemporain de Mourenx. She has participated in many collective exhibitions at renowned venues such as the Libourne Museum of Fine Arts in 2020 and Les Estivales de Sceaux for the Festival d’art contemporain du Grand Paris in 2024. She exhibited in a duo show in 2025 at Espace Mably, a contemporary art venue in Bordeaux, as part of the exhibition “M.é.moires fragmentées” (Fragmented Memories). The Galerie Ars Longa has also chosen to represent her artwork in the exhibition ”Yes it’s just a pen” in 2025 which presented a selection of talents from the contemporary drawing scene.
